McCormick & Schmick's restaurant group began in 1972 when a partnership between Bill McCormick and Doug Schmick was formalized. Bill, a native New Englander, who was already a successful businessman and restaurateur, joined forces with Doug to create a group of restaurants that are founded on quality, service, traditionalism and value. The two men share the highest regard for traditionalism and quality, as well as a similar love for the classic fish house restaurants of San Francisco and New England.

We are firmly committed to a corporate structure that promotes leadership and a proprietary attitude in our restaurant management teams. Bill and Doug have always believed in the personal touch, whether it be in the care of our guests or in the management of our company and its restaurants.
